Each week at The Colour Jar I am privileged to work on numerous older books that need some care. My repertoire of projects and techniques grows continually because every book is different; it is a unique object! Books are created in different locations with different water and air, different access to
materials, and sometimes a traditional way of doing things! This particular one is a family Bible printed in Berlin, Ontario in the late 1800s, and had great engravings, despite the leather being in rough shape. The cover was consolidated a bit with a salve and colour, and after the inside pages were strengthened with new sewing, the two parts were assembled. Multiple connections inside the spine made this a strong book again.
